The 9th. International Conference of the College of Education at Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman comes to highlight the importance of presenting contemporary and future visions for the role of psychology in typical and crisis times. Contemporary events and the natural disasters we have witnessed, such as earthquakes, human-made disasters, such as wars and internal and international conflicts, in addition to the spread of epidemics, and economic crises, have all spread fear among individuals across the globe. Studies have documented the negative psychological effects of such incidents that have struck humanity, including, for example, the spread of fear, anxiety, emotional distress, symptoms of post-traumatic stress, difficulties in sleeping, and obsession with contracting infectious deadly diseases. 

  1. Identifying current and future perspectives in psychology applicable to individuals and societies during ordinary times and times of crisis.
  2. Illuminating the contributions of psychological research during ordinary times and times of crisis in various educational domains.
  3. Enhancing awareness of human capabilities in ordinary times and when facing challenges during times of crisis.
  4. Identifying current and future perspectives in interdisciplinary sciences that intersect with psychology, and benefiting from their theories and applications to enhance human behavior during ordinary times and times of crisis.

1- Contemporary and future visions in educational and psychological measurement and evaluation in ordinary and crisis times.
 2- Educational and school psychology (contemporary and future visions in the cognitive, emotional and behavioral orientations related to learning in ordinary and crisis times) 
 3- Individuals with disabilities (contemporary and future perspectives in providing educational and intervention programs to students with disabilities, challenges associated with teaching and evaluating students with disabilities in ordinary and crisis times.)
4- Psychological counseling (dealing with mental health problems and psychological disorders in ordinary and crisis times.)
5- Contemporary and future visions in curricula and teaching methods in ordinary and crisis times.
6- Educational Administration and crisis management systems in a manner that reduces the expected educational losses in ordinary and crisis times.
7- Psychological and social impact of instructional, learning, and communication technology and artificial intelligence human interaction during ordinary and crisis times.
8- Teaching the arts and practicing them to alleviate the problems related to learning in ordinary and crisis times.
9- Physical education and sports and its effects in improving mental health in in ordinary and crisis times.
10- Islamic studies and framework for the spiritual aspect and its relationship to the psychological aspect in ordinary and crisis times.
11- Teaching and caring for children and enhancing communication with their families in ordinary and crisis times.
12- Future visions in social psychology, sociology and social work in dealing with societal crises during ordinary and crisis times. 
13- The role of the media and its psychological impact in dealing with ordinary and crisis times
14- Psychology and its role in health fields in ordinary and crisis times.

 

Participation Guidelines

  • The topic of the research paper, poster, or workshop should align with one of the conference themes.
  • Conference languages: Arabic and English.
  • The research should not have been published, under publication, or presented at previous conferences.
  • Research papers should meet scientific and ethical standards.
  • Research is subject to review by the conference’s scientific committee.
