Contemporary Trends in Teacher Education: CUTM6103

The course aims to equip students with both theoretical and practical knowledge on various systems of teacher preparation and teacher professional development programs, especially in terms of both national and international models and the latest developments in the field. The course also covers the most important approaches in teacher preparation such as the competency-based approach, and the system-based approach. The course also includes practical activities and tasks where students analyze and evaluate teacher preparation programs in their area of specialization, in light of the philosophies of teaching, and standards of academic accreditation. Other tasks in the course include microteaching and field visits; diagnosis of professional needs; identifying channels of partnerships with stakeholders; identifying challenges and constraints and developing research partnerships between teacher preparation programs and the educational field. In this course, candidates will undertake a small project as a research study to complete the course requirements for the master degree in Curriculum and Instruction of Art Education. The research project will be examined by the experts' committee from the Curriculum and Instruction department and accordingly, candidate will awarded final result: success, or failure at the end of the study.
