This course aims to give the student an overview of the concepts and theories of the principles of Da'wa and its various schools, as well as in-depth knowledge of these principles and schools to be utilized in Da'wa in contemporary Muslims' lives. Syllabus: - Definitions of Da'wa, its styles, means and characteristics. - Issues that should be addressed by Da'wa. - Approaches, skills, styles, ethics, flexibility of the Da’wa carrier and avoidance of fanaticism.

This course aims to build the student’s intellectual ability with reference to the roots of Islamic thought and associated factors throughout its development. Syllabus: - Defining Islamic thought, its evolution and development. - Development of intellectual schools. - Influence of Islamic thought on other civilizations and cultures. – Confrontation of Islamic thought with man-made philosophies and human conceptualizations based on mere intellect. - Facing intellectual invasion in modern times.

This course aims to highlight the Omanis' role in spreading Islam and during the Islamic conquests. It introduces prominent Omani Da’wa carriers (Da'iyas) throughout history and their role in defending Islam. Syllabus: - Oman in the Prophet's era. – Islam’s entrance into Oman and its influence on its population. - Omanis' role in spreading Islam. - Omanis' role Islamic civilization. - Omanis' contributions to the development of Islamic and Arabic sciences. - Prominent figures in the field of Da'wa and defending Islam and Muslim causes. - Most prominent Omani figures in history and their scientific achievements. - Notable Omani documents and books. - Omanis' role in various aspects of social, intellectual and political Islamic life.

This course aims to illustrate the Islamic approach to discourse with others and how to conduct a meaningful debate in a persuasive manner free from discrimination and prejudice. Syllabus: - Concept of dialogue: Its principles, methods, objectives and types in the Holy Quran and Sunnah. - Conflict resolution and nature of the dispute between people. - Islamic approach in reaching the truth. - Maintaining integrity of social stability. - Appreciation and respect of others through knowledge of dialogue controls and etiquette.

This course aims to deepen the student’s knowledge of the miracles of the Quran in the fields of rhetoric, science and legislation. Syllabus: - Introduction to the history of studying the miracles of the Quran. - Terminologies of miracles of the Quran. - Textual study. - Analytical study of three approaches to miracles in the Holy Quran: Al-Rumani, Al-Khattabi, Al-Jurjani). - Scientific miracles in the Quran (controls and examples). - Legislative miracles in the Quran. - Other aspects of the Quranic miracle.

This course aims to train the student in the holistic interpretation of the verses of the Holy Quran and developing his talent to relate topics to each other. Syllabus: - Concept of thematic interpretation, history, divisions and benefits. - Selected themes (man & divinity in the Quran). - Exploring Suras characterized by thematic unity (e.g., Al-Kahf, Yusuf, Al-An'am).

This course aims to deepen the student's understanding of the objective and analytical aspects of the verses of the Holy Quran and the Hadith texts. It outlines the approaches of Quran interpreters and Hadith narrators and their intellectual approaches in the past and at present. Syllabus: - An analytical study of Suras of: Hud, Yunus, Ibrahim and al-Hashr, pointing out their main objectives. - The overall meaning of some of the above Suras' verses; meanings of some vocabulary and grammatical structures. - Highlighting common features among approved methods of recitations (Qira'at). - Rhetorical and syntactic aspects of verses - Highlighting the lessons to be learned from the Suras. - A selection of different Hadiths (on knowledge, faith, ethics). - A selection of  Hadith involving issues of jurisprudence addressing contemporary issues in financial, medical, environmental and human rights-related cases. - A selection of representative Hadith  as to identify the Prophet's rhetorical style. - Identifying rare Hadith (Gharib).

Syllabus: - Sunnah's position in Islam. - Efforts of Ummah's scholars to preserve Hadith. - Hijazi school in studying Hadith and its impact. - Iraqi school in studying Hadith and its impact - Modern trends in the study of Sunnah (Orientalists, rationalists and Quranis). - Contemporary studies in the figurative language in the Hadith. - Scientific miracles in the Sunnah - Psychological and pedagogical studies on Sunnah.

This course aims to introduce the student to the basis of narration content validation, and ways of authenticating Hadith and the Prophet's teaching to make use of them in the fields of jurisprudence and verdicts. Syllabus: - Methodology of various Sunnah books. -Characteristics of Medina, Kufa, Basra, and Sham schools. -Hadith classification according to authenticity: Authentic, Good, Weak, Fabricated. -Deceit (Tadlis) and its types. -Proverbs in Hadith. Methods of Hadith Citation (Takhrij).

The Thesis aims at developing the student’s research skills, using academic methodology; through examining, describing and analyzing, in order to obtain academically sound results.

The student, under the supervision of two or more faculty, will prepare a Master Thesis in one topic of interest from his specialization.

This course aims to give the student an insight into the concept and categories of Islamic jurisprudence semantics and verbal connotations, illustrating its impact on deriving the Islamic legal rule from its sources.

This course aims to detail the Islamic Law regarding matrimony & divorce in Islam, highlighting the magnificence of the Islamic Law in this field. Syllabus: - Engagement and marriage contract. - Guardianship, terms & conditions of marriage contracts. - Wife's dowry. - Wife's financial rights. - End of matrimony through termination, divorce, annulment (Faskh), wife dissolving the marriage (Khul’), and consequences of each. - Restoration of matrimony (after revocable divorce). - Waiting period after divorce (‘Iddah code of conduct). - Offspring rights (attribution, nursing, custody, expenses). – Contemporary issues. - In-depth study of one of the above items (guardianship or wife's financial rights) compared to the Oman' Personal Status Law.

Syllabus: - Definition of proof; importance, conditions, domicile - Witness; types, conditions. - Confession; status, and conferring rights. - Documentary evidence: status, categories and authority. - Oaths: status, rights conferred by oaths. - Oath to establish responsibility for murder (qasamah). - Circumstantial evidence. - Competency of judge as witness. - Reasonable suspicion influence on evidence. - Impact of expert witness. - Comparison with man-made laws. - Study of sample material from the Omani Law of Evidence.

This course aims to introduce the student to the Fiqh of Financial Transactions, types, controls and current domains. Syllabus: - Extensive and analytical study of one or more topics of Financial Transactions Fiqh, such as:  Contract theory in Islamic law; concept, foundations, impacts, terms and conditions, practical examples (Sales or firms' contracts) -Theory of emergency conditions; impact on contracts compared with the Civil Law.

This course aims to familiarize the student with the concept of contemporary fiqh (Fiqh al-Nawazil) and its specifics with the detailed study of some contemporary legal cases, mainly in the field of economics and the life sciences. Syllabus: The Islamic legal rule on Organ Transplantation, Cosmetic surgery, Surrogacy, Salam, Istisna’, Tawarruq, Insurance, Takaful Insurance, Intellectual Property Rights, Protection of natural resources and the environment.

This course aims to introduce the student to the principles of crime and punishment in Islamic legislation, general characteristics and comparison with man-made laws. Syllabus: - Controls and characteristics of the principle of criminalization. - Controls and characteristics of punishment - Types of penalties:  Fixed punishments (Hudud): types, provisions, stipulations, and misconceptions. Retribution (qisas): provisions, stipulations and annulment criteria. Variable punishments (ta'zir): provisions and stipulations. Blood money: types, provisions, stipulations and amounts. - Comparison with man-made laws.

This course aims to introduce the student to the concept of applying legal maxims in Fiqh and its impact on building fiqh competence. Syllabus: - Legal maxims of Islamic law (Qawa’id Fiqhiya). - Distinction between Legal maxim, general theories of Fiqh and legal control. - Methods of making fiqh rules. - Rule-making guidance. - Impact of rule-making on the difference between jurists. - Rule-making based on divine text. - Rule-making based on analogical deduction. - Rule-making based on inference (Istidlal).

This course aims to introduce the student to the concept of Islamic Politics, relationship with scripture, rules, theoretical and realistic aspects in  Islamic Law regarding fields of application and its role in international relations.

This course aims to introduce the student to: - The concept of endowments (Waqf) and rules in the Islamic Law. - Contemporary experience of waqf in some Islamic countries. - Applied study of waqf in Oman.  - Syllabus: - Waqf; definition, status in Islamic Law, types (offspring specific and charitable) - How waqfs are made. - Condition, development, financing of waqf - Disposing of waqf through replacement, sale, inhabiting, obtaining their returns. - Discontinue of waqf and changing ways of spending its returns. - Contemporary experience in managing waqf investment. - Waqf in Oman.

This course is designed to study the Qiyas in-depth, so that student can know the methods and tactics of scholars in using of Qiyas as a way to derive the Islamic legal rule from the Islamic texts and its impact on the diversity of difference of Islamic schools.
