Program Overview

Ìý

The program has been designed in accordance to modern trends in teaching arts. Courses offered in this program are based on effective teaching methods such as open art studio, art projects, collaborative learning, experimental learning, Independent studies and practice-based research. The final projects required for graduation are undertaken the following forms: Exhibition, portfolio, Final graduation projects and Thesis.

First option: Master’s by Coursework (36 credits of coursework)

The student must complete all courses as described in their program degree plans with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.

AdmissionÌýRequirements

  • ÌýApplicants should have a Bachelor's of Art Education or Bachelor of Art Literature, specialization in Visual Arts or Fine Arts or Graphic Design with Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.75 on a 4 point scale,ÌýorÌý

-ÌýA Bachelor's degreeÌýfrom any other recognized institution in a field related to the program with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale or its equivalent in another system and theÌýDeanship of Postgraduate StudiesÌýwill make the assessment for equivalency acceptance,ÌýorÌý

Ìý-ÌýTwo year’s Work experience in teaching is a must for candidates with Cumulative Grade Point Average between 2.5 and 2.74 in the Bachelor degree.Ìý

  • Candidate should provide an Art portfolio/ record of achievements which include evidence related to skills of the candidate, his thoughts, interstates, and achievements in different forms of artworks, pictures, certificates, unit plans for teaching art his/her students, and samples of his/her student's artworks, whether in the form of papers, CD or USB.
  • Applicant must submit a release letter or a study leave from employer for full time study, addressed to the dean of Postgraduate Studies at ag¶Ä²©. Un-employed applicant needs to submit a statement from The Ministry of Labour documenting the unemployment status of the applicant.Ìý

ÌýEnglish Proficiency Ìý

Before starting the program, the admitted candidates should submit an English Proficiency Test Certificate band (4) or higher in academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic or a score of (39) or higher in the International TOEFL – IBT.

Selection Criteria

Ìý

There will be an assessment of Art portfolio then followed by writing and practical exam for all applicants and those who pass the exam shall be called for an interview.
