Program Overview

The student should complete 9 courses Ìýduring the first year for the full-timers and during the first and the second years for the part-timers. In the second semester of the last year, the student should write a research proposal in a selected topic if s/he earns a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 point scale. For the thesis (6 CH), the candidate is required to conduct the necessary literature review, undertake the research, analyses the results, write the report and communicate the results at an oral defense. This work need not necessarily be original research, but should be a new application of ideas. The student should identify the research problem in consultation with the supervisor, which normally takes place in the second semester. The student should register for the thesis in the third semester after having completed at least 12 credits of the course work.

  • Applicant should have a Bachelor of Education in Psychology with Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.75 on a 4 point scale,ÌýorÌý

- a Bachelor's degreeÌýfrom any other recognized institution in a field related to the program with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale or its equivalent in another system and theÌýDeanship of Postgraduate StudiesÌýwill make the assessment for equivalency acceptance,Ìýor

- Two year’s Work experience is a must for candidates with Cumulative Grade Point Average between 2.5 and 2.74 in the Bachelor degree.

  • Applicants from other non-educational disciplines which included Psychology courses in their study can be considered for theÌýEducational Psychology program, provided that they may be required to enroll in bridging courses before they are admitted to the program.
  • Applicant must submit a release letter or a study leave from employer for full time study or no objection letter for part-time study, addressed to the dean of postgraduate studies at ag¶Ä²©. Un-employed applicant needs to submit a statement from TheÌýMinistry of Labour documenting the unemployment status of the applicant.Ìý

English Proficiency

Before starting the program, the admitted candidates should submit an English Proficiency Test Certificate band (4) or higher in academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic or a score of (39) or higher in the International TOEFL – IBT.
