  • Coursework and Thesis Track

Students must complete 24 credit hours, in addition to writing and successfully defending a thesis (6 credit hours) Ìýin either Arabic or English language. The student should complete the coursework requirements specified in the degree plan with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for the "thesis only" track, the candidate is required to conduct the necessary literature review, undertake the research, analyze the results, write the thesis and communicate the results at an oral defense. The student should identify the research problem in consultation with her/his supervisor(s), which normally takes place in the last semester of coursework. The student should register for the thesis in the third semester after having completed at least 12 credits of coursework.

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Tourism or a related disciplines such as Business Administration, Economics, Management, Geography, Information Studies, History, Archeology or Languages from Sultan Qaboos University or any other recognized university with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.75 on a 4.0 scaleor its equivalent in another system (the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies will assess such case of equivalency). or

-ÌýApplicants with Cumulative Grade Point Average between 2.5 and 2.74 on a 4.0 scaleor its equivalent are required to have a minimum of two years work experience,Ìýor

-ÌýApplicants who have bachelor degree from a recognized institution and a postgraduate diploma in a related specialization from a recognized institution of higher education with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale or its equivalent.

  • Applicants from other disciplines may be asked by the Department of Tourism to attend additional bridging courses before starting the program.
  • Employed applicants must submit a letter of release or a letter of study leave from their respective employer for full-time study option or a letter of no objection for part-time study option. These letters should be addressed to the Dean of Postgraduate Studies at ag¶Ä²©. Unemployed applicants should submit a statement from The Ministry of Labour documenting their unemployment status.

ÌýAchieve level (5.5) in IELTS Academic or (525) in the TOEFL paper-based or (196) in TOEFL through the computer or (69) in the TOEFL through the Internet.
