Training, community services and extensions are some of the key functions of the College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University. The office of the Assistant Dean for Training and Community Services (ADTCS) in particular serves as a channel of communication between the College and the Community. The ADTCS office organizes regular extension activities to promote what the college can offer to the community in terms of services and consultancy. One of these activities is the College Open Day, which targets high school students. Other events include Farmer's Day and Fishermen's Day that provide an informal platform to encourage interactions and exchange of experiences and concerns among practitioners and the researchers of the College. They also provide the community with up-to-date technologies and research findings.

The ADTCS Office also coordinates undergraduate internship programs, oversees training of technical staff and coordinates all College workshops, short courses and conferences. The ADTCS leads the College Outreach and Training Committee which is responsible for developing policy guidelines and procedures for undertaking outreach and community services.

The ADTCS and the College Outreach and Training Committee thrive to disseminate new information about the College and its services. This not only serves the community but also allows for more effective use of sustainable use of natural resources.
